Talking About What I Do

Hello Friends,

It has been about six months since I last checked in. I was lucky enough to teach a workshop to the Harvard Alumni Group in SF thanks to a colleague’s referral and the retirement workshop I taught in the fall was very meaningful to me and the attendees based on the feedback I received. From those events, I’ve been able to work with several new clients. I continue to find the work very fulfilling and the clients I work with share that they are getting a lot out of the process.

If you are able, I’d love your help referring me to possible clients as I grow my practice. In these early days before word-of-mouth fully takes off it is especially helpful. I do full-hour intro sessions for free which has really helped new clients get a sense of what this is all about.

If you have someone in your life that is going through a big transition or know someone about to make a big decision please keep me in mind.

I’ve been refining the introduction to what I do since the website went live and I’ve got a crisper framing I’d love your feedback on, especially if you’ve worked with me before. Did I get it right? Is there something I’m missing in how we worked together that I should mention? This first sentence is what I share up front, the rest seek to answer the follow up questions around what the work is actually like.

I work with individuals navigating significant personal or professional transitions, helping them access their own wisdom to meet whatever challenge is in front of them.

People come with a specific personal or professional challenge, and by working through it, something larger in them opens: a clearer relationship with their own wisdom and how they want to live. We often spend the first session exploring their initial question or challenge. Someone might come wanting advice on a career change, but underneath there is something like "why do I not feel fulfilled?" And once we've found that question, we're outside the realm of rational analysis—which is where the important work happens. Though sometimes the presenting question is the right one and we get straight to work; this work is deeply practical, even in its depth.

From there, sessions unfold through dialogue, exercises, and reflection practices that give someone's inner wisdom room to surface. In practice, clients typically leave sessions with a specific insight, a question to sit with, or a small concrete action — something that moves them forward without losing the deeper thread.

I've spent decades building businesses, and for much of that time was quietly doing the same inner work I now guide others through. Few advisors have the experience and training to move fluidly between the practical and the transformational—meeting someone where they are, whatever level that happens to be.

Logistically, I generally work with clients for 3-6 months meeting every couple weeks.

Thanks for reading and have a great summer. Go Team USA and Happy Birthday America!

Warmly,

Sean
